  • Silky to the touch
  • Handpicked for their dense wool
  • Specially prepared for instant baby use
  • Wool clipped to 25mm
  • Machine washable
  • Take everywhere you go so your baby settles quickly wherever you are

Winganna® Lambskins are suitable for:

*Guidelines suggest if you are using a sheepskin as bedding, a cotton sheet needs to be placed over the sheepskin.
Cots*
Prams
Car Seats
Play Mats

Our natural lambskins are sourced by a company in the South West of England, but the lambskins originate from Australia where the wool is softer, denser and silkier.

Being a natural product, our lambskins come in slightly different sizes.  The length can range from 95-107cm and the width varies between 65-76cm.

Winganna® lambskins are carefully selected and specially processed for use with babies. The wool of the lambskin has been sheared to give firm mattress support and then carefully combed to remove any loose fibres, so there is no danger of babies picking up bits of fluff or breathing in long fibres.

Each lambskin is subject to stringent quality control.

A study conducted on the Winganna™ Lambskin at the special care baby unit in the Cambridge Maternity Hospital in England demonstrated that high-risk and premature babies gain weight faster when sleeping on lambswool rather than conventional bedding.

Babies with lambswool in their incubators gained more weight than those babies placed on regular bedding.

Testimonials

I can’t tell you how much my children loved these baby sheepskin rugs. They slept on them throughout their childhoods. They have been used daily for the last 30 years and travelled from England to the States, back to Germany and now reside in Ireland.

I was delighted to find some old paperwork from Winganna Lambskins in a box in my attic today and was then able to locate you on the internet.

In 1983 and 1984, my daughter and son were born at 30 and 23 weeks respectively in the Westminster Hospital in London. We were recommended Winganna by one of the Special Care Baby Unit Nurses in 1983 and purchased your lambskin. My daughter loved it so much that we supplied a Winganna Lambskin to each of the cots in the unit. A year later, when my son was born, we bought another one for him.  As the children grew, we bought two of the large lambskin baby rugs that they slept on.

I can’t tell you how much my children loved these baby sheepskin rugs. They slept on them throughout their childhoods. They have been used daily for the last 30 years and travelled from England to the States, back to Germany and now reside in Ireland. Two of the large lambskin baby rugs rest along couches and the small one adorns the leather chair I am currently sitting on and the other one lies beside my bed.

I wash them on a cold wash with baby shampoo and glycerine. I rub glycerine along the skin and they look as good today as they did 30 years ago.

I just wanted to let you know what a treasure they have been to us. After a very shaky start in life my daughter has completed a PhD in Laser Physics and my son a PhD in Criminal Justice. The comfort your rugs afforded them, gave them a wonderful start in life.

Many thanks,

Sandra

Your Winganna Lambskins are wonderful. I have bought them since 1983 when our son was born and later in 1989 for our daughter. I am one of the grandparents over the moon to have been able to buy a Winganna Lambskin for our new grandson (born in late June this year) from the same reliable and tested source.

Also I work as a reflexologist with people who have all sorts of life limiting disease. Very often these folk are either extremely thin with bony bottoms and  have a hard time getting comfortable or they are unable to move themselves and sit  or recline with less comfort than is available when on a sheepskin. Two clients have bought large ‘baby’ lambskins to assist their day to day comfort and I have also bought one for my husband who is waiting for two new hips. A real boon for all those people.

So you could say that Winganna helps at the start of life in the middle and towards the end. With thanks for all that you do.

Just realised my original fleeces are now 30 and 28 years old, and still in daily use on sofa’s and chairs!   Best thing l have ever brought, and loved by family. Do you now do larger fleeces , for throws please?

I bought a Winganna Lambskin for my third , and final, baby. She was always calm and slept well, unlike the other two. She was such an easy baby and, as she got older, I cut the lambskin so that I could put it into her pushchair and she was always cosy and comfy.

I often buy one for special people who are expecting a baby in the hope that it will work for them, too.

I recently bought a Winganna Lambskin for my new granddaughter: I knew about them because my daughter also had one 30 years ago, as did my other children, thanks to an Australian friend who recommended them at the time. Probably the fact that I remembered the brand for all those years tells you what I think of the product; but in case it doesn’t, they are the perfect bed for babies!

The Winganna Baby Fleece has proven to be a versatile, durable, and wonderful product. A blogger from the Family Review Center in the USA has reviewed our Winganna Lambskin!
“The Winganna Baby Fleece has proven to be a versatile, durable, and wonderful product. This all natural fleece not only warms a baby without the use of a blanket, it keeps them comfortable enough to sleep longer and more peacefully. This is a wonderful benefit for the new parent who struggles to get their infant to sleep more than a couple of hours in a night. Placing a Winganna Baby Fleece in the crib will be the best move you ever made. Your baby will thank you by granting you longer sleep patterns, as they rest comfortably on their new fleece.
Lamb fleece is recommended by physicians for infants who are premature, and for those who suffer with colic or eating problems. Studies have shown that weight gain in preemies is enhanced when using one of these, and colicky babies will sleep longer and more soundly. This is due to the gentle touch of the lamb fleece, which both stimulates and soothes their skin. The natural lamb fleece caresses an infant’s skin, bringing night time comfort to its highest level. This is an all natural product that will benefit every baby who uses it.
This product is completely machine washable and can even be placed in a dryer on a tumble dry setting. However, most times you will only have to wipe it clean, because the natural appearing lanolin serves as a barrier from moisture and soiling, keeping them from sinking in to the fleece itself.
Air circulates through the fibers, so there is no danger from suffocation. Dampness is also moved away from the baby’s skin, keeping heat rash instances to a minimum when this product is used.
I wondered when I first used this product, if it truly would reduce the need for blanket use. I wondered how something under an infant could keep their entire body warm through their sleep cycle. Keeping the room at a normal 67 degree temperature, I tried it with my infant. I placed her on it for nap time, and used no blankets or heavy sleepers on her. When she awoke, I checked her skin temperature by touch. She was equally warm all over and had slept peacefully and comfortably. This greatly impressed me, and showed me that what I had heard was true.
This is a product you will find many uses for, and will be glad you learned of it. It very well may become your favorite baby product soon after first trying it. I know your baby will love it. Our little girl loves to sleep on it. I also use it to lay her on for playtime, as it is so comfortable, and she seems so cozy when on it. I plan to purchase one for her stroller, so she can be equally as warm when we are on the go, and I do not have to worry about outside elements soiling the one I use for her crib.
Winganna uses the finest of lamb skins, imported from Europe. Try one to see why parents in other countries have been sold on the use of these for years” www.winganna.co.uk
*Winganna Note – we advise using a sheet over the lambskin for babies under 1 year*

I thought you might be interested to know that I bought my Winganna fleece 33 years ago before the birth of my first child. It was used for my 4 children and I’m just washing in preparation for the birth of my 4th grandchild! An awesome fleece . Thank you so much!”

When the news of having twins finally sank in one of the first things on my ‘to buy’ list was two lambskins as I heard and seen, from a very dear friend of mine, how her wee ones simply adored their ‘lammy’. The boys are now 6 months old and they too love their lammies. Why? Because they are kind and gentle on their skin; soothing them as they gently fall asleep and kindly welcoming them to greet the day as they wake up. Seriously, they are wonderful!!!!

We discovered Winganna when we were given a cot lambskin as a gift for our third child, then fourth and fifth! They were as perfect as could be and our children slept on them as newborns and with them your a number of years. We still have them… or in some cases pieces of them as our son loved to chew on his sheepie, but that’s a different story.

In December our first grandchild will join the family! Woo hoo!! I immediately wanted to get two sheepies, as my children called them.
